Player of the Week

By Corey R. Cunningham

Mike Trout is this week’s prospect player of the week, due to his ability to continue to tear through Major League pitching. Mike Trout has with no doubt, brought a spark to Los Angeles as the Angels anticipated he would.

Let’s compare the years of 2011 and 2012:

2011: 40 G, 123 AB, 20 R, 27 H, 6 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 16 RBI, 9 BB, 30 K, 4 SB, .220 BA

2012: 39 G, 157 AB, 33 R, 55 H, 10 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 24 RBI, 15 BB, 33 K, 13SB,350BA

Mike Trout has lit up pitching thus far in the MLB, and he continues, in his last 10 games alone, Trout has 20 H, 7 of 10 Multi hit games. Torii Hunter was quoted in Anaheim, saying, “In 3 Years Mike Trout will be the best player in Baseball.”

The Angels have won the last 6 of 10, and the last 14 of 18. Trout has been with the big league ball club now since April 28th, and the club has a record of 24-15. As of May 1st, Trout was hitting, .143, now as of June 10th, he is batting .350.

I do believe Bryce Harper has received more attention than Trout, and not putting Harpers game on the back burner, however, Trout has shined in the spot light a lot more, and probably due to the fact he plays on the West Coast. Look for Trout to continue his hot hitting at the plate, as he pushes strong for an All-Star bid this year in Kansas City.
