More than any other position, SS has the biggest injury concerns. Four out of the top five have had seasons over the last 3 where they missed considerable time. Tulo 115 games missed, Hanley 70, Reyes 126 and Rollins 74. Those types of losses can kill a season. Yet year after year they are projected as elites at their position. The reason being…they produce well beyond their competition when healthy. Though none are worth over a $30 bid in auctions this year they will still not go cheap, and in snake drafts the elite should all go in rounds 2 & 3. Here are my projections.

I still have Tulo #1 at SS because he has the ability to go 30 HR and 100 RBI when healthy and that’s a huge concern. Do not draft him round 1 this year.
Hanley through Rollins all have the ability to put up 4 of 5 counting stats far better than their competitors. I personally am targeting Zobrist with his multi-position eligibility this year. This could be the last year he has SS eligibility.
Cabrera to Desmond; I consider the next group to target. They are all 4-7 round picks. I am not nearly as high on Castro as others. I watch the Cubs all year and Castro does not have the pop or body mass as of yet to put up big power numbers. Do not count on more than low teens in HR from him. The sleeper from this group is Cabrera. If he can hit and stay in the 3 hole for the Tribe look for numbers better than I have projected.
From 10-20+ I am targeting Rutledge…but at 2B or MI. His power is legit and Coors will help that. Look for Lowrie’s numbers to be somewhat smaller than my projections now that he plays in cavernous Oakland. The rest of this group can produce 2 counting stats all year. Jeter in Rs and BA, Escobar Rs and SB. Hardy HR and RBI. These lower tier SS can be had late in drafts. If you miss out on the top 5 wait, be patient and do not over pay for this group. They can be had at round 20.
