If you are in a 5 OF format or in a daily league you need to add Tyler Colvin today. He has always possessed that power stroke and now playing in a launching pad like Coors he is bring the power show home to roost. So far in June he is hitting .318 with 4HR and a 1.309 OPS. If you remember his days in Chicago he had one season of 20 HR in 358 at bats. He then fell from grace in Chicago due to inability to produce any power. The once shooting star fell hard but is now geared to re-load in the mile high city. This is the perfect place for him to do so. He has entrenched himself as the solid 4th outfielder for the Rox and with 1 more game a 1B he will gain 1B eligibility. With that in mind I see him playing 3-5 days a week.
Why you should own him and play him whenever he is starting: He hits lefties at a .364 clip with an OPS at 1.020 and at home he is hitting .308 with an OPS of 1.080. Still only 26 years old he could be the heir apparent to Helton. His manager agrees that his defense is above par by saying, “There isn’t any place you can put him defensively where he doesn’t look smooth; he’s very graceful.” As a part time player there is not much more your manager can say about your defensive skills than that. And with that said in combination with his offensive ability he gets more and more playing time. Deep formats…own him, 5 OF formats…own him, NL only leagues…own him. You have bench space in daily leagues…own him.
